Brightwalton Parish Council: Meetings, Minutes, Finances, Regulations

Guidance from WBC for Landowners Maintaining Hedges adjoining the Highway

22/1/2018

The Parish Council has been working with West Berkshire Council Highways department to help address some of the speeding concerns within the village and the Holt. As part of this, Highways have asked the Parish Council to remind landowners that it is their responsibility to maintain their hedges adjoining the highway, and it is important that this done to ensure maximum visibility and the impact of the road signs.

The Parish Council appreciates that in some locations this is not an easy task and asked West Berkshire Council if they could provide some guidance for carrying out the work. Below is a copy of the their Method Statements for working on the highway and for carrying out hedge cutting work. For larger or more difficult areas, the Parish Council would be happy to obtain further details for landowners on obtaining a works permit to allow for traffic management.
