Fuel Together. Save Together.

The syndicate is currently administered by Julian Aird - julian.aird@conneco.org.uk

How we save money on fuel

In 2012, we set up a low maintenance Oil Syndicate to residents of Brightwalton to give us the opportunity to reduce the cost of oil by pooling our buying power. By putting an oil order in at the same time and having it delivered on the same day, we can save the Oil Company transportation costs and therefore are able to get a reduced rate for our oil. We win, the oil company wins and the environment is better off too.

Getting involved

We have 7 simple steps:
  1. Register your interest to join the syndicate by emailing the Syndicate Co-ordinator with the following details:
    1. Name of the person to be billed
    2. Telephone number
    3. Special delivery instructions
  2. The Co-Ordinator contacts all club members asking for orders at certain times spread out over the year - more often in winter than summer. You can see the rough schedule below.
  3. Members respond by telling us how much oil (number of litres) they require. There is a minimum order of 500 litres per property.
  4. Members orders are totalled up. The Co-ordinator phones around the local oil delivery companies to get the best price and then places an order on behalf of members.
  5. Oil is then delivered within 24 - 48 hours.
  6. The oil company bills members direct, who are then responsible for paying their own bills.

Benefits so far

At the end of 2016, we had over 70 members. We typically order between 18,000 to 32,000 litres per order. Cumulative savings equate to over £14,000.

Guideline dates for oil orders

There is now around 5 orders placed per year. Please contact Julian for details of the next order date on
